Meet the Artists!
Our Art, Our Story
Marie Dannyelle and Bryan Thorpe are artists who share a life together while pursuing distinct creative paths. Marie explores the inner landscapes of human emotion through dark, surreal painting, while Bryan examines the world from above with fine art aerial photography. Their practices are separate, offering visitors two unique perspectives on life, emotion, and the world around us.
Marie Dannyelle – Dark, Surreal Painter
My art practice explores the raw beauty inherent in the most powerful extremes of human experience. I seek to render the internal, psychological experience of life-altering moments, revealing the core of ourselves that is laid bare by overwhelming emotional force — whether that force is the brutality of a seismic shift or the sudden clarity of profound, quiet joy. My subjects capture the intense, isolated feeling of these moments that fundamentally reshape identity.
The central mission of my work is to communicate this internal transformation. I work primarily with acrylic paint, often combined with pencil and charcoal, to render this stillness and intensity. I communicate the emotional narrative through the strategic use of bold contrasting colors and a surreal aesthetic, which come together to form my distinctive dark art style. This approach examines how these intense experiences influence growth and resilience, demanding that the viewer engage with the powerful origins of their own identity.
Marie Dannyelle is a contemporary Dark Artist and surrealist based in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Primarily self-taught, she has been seriously developing her distinctive style for four years, with an intensified professional focus over the past year. Her practice captures the seismic emotional shifts that fundamentally reshape identity, whether overwhelming chaos or profound, quiet joy. Working primarily in acrylics, pencil, and charcoal, she is known for applying her intense painting style across traditional canvases and found objects, including her signature piece, the highly personalized armoire “Davy Jones’ Locker.”
Her work has been exhibited at Seacoast Art Gallery, Studio B, and Swamp Fox Art Gallery, where she also had the privilege of studio time. She fondly remembers the late Jim Dyson, the owner and a remarkably talented artist, whose guidance and belief in her work deeply influenced her confidence and growth as an artist.
Bryan Thorpe - Fine Art Aerial Photographer
Bryan Thorpe is a fine art aerial photographer dedicated to exploring the complex relationship between the natural environment and the built world. His work operates at the intersection of documentary photography and abstract expressionism, using the aerial perspective to flatten the landscape into a study of texture, color, and geometry.
His imagery is defined by a distinct focus on boundaries—the sharp lines of infrastructure cutting through organic terrain, and the way nature slowly reclaims abandoned spaces. By isolating these moments of contact, he transforms vast landscapes into intimate, graphic compositions. His work challenges the viewer to detach from the familiar ground-level view and appreciate the unintended artistry found in the footprint of human industry and the resilience of the wild.
Bryan Thorpe is a fine art aerial photographer whose practice explores the hidden artistry of the landscape from above. Operating at the intersection of documentary photography and abstract expressionism, he uses the aerial perspective to reveal patterns, textures, and geometry that are often invisible from the ground.
His work emphasizes the tension between human development and the natural world, capturing the subtle ways that infrastructure interacts with and sometimes intrudes upon organic environments. Bryan isolates these moments to transform expansive landscapes into intimate, visually striking compositions, encouraging viewers to reconsider their perception of space, scale, and perspective.
Working with both color and light to highlight texture and structure, his photography transforms ordinary landscapes into abstract studies, balancing formal composition with conceptual depth. Bryan’s signature approach invites audiences to engage with the environment thoughtfully, noticing the intricate details and unintended artistry of the world around them. His images have been exhibited at Artists Collective I Spartanburg's Gallery and continue to explore the dialogue between human design and natural resilience.
